Bargain Shopping at Ameno

Santee Alley was originally the heart of the wholesale fashion industry in Los Angeles. On weekends manufacturers and importers would sell their overstock and one-offs from the back door of their businesses. Those "back doors" all faced the same alley, which would eventually be known as Santee Alley. The alley is now full-time retail operation but many a deal are still to be found, if you know where to look. "Where should I look?," you might ask. Well, we just happen to now this little store that's full of waiting-to-be-found gems...

Ameno is a women's wholesale and retail store selling a mix of trendy styles and classic staples. Retail prices range from $8-$32, meaning most items in the store are under $30! It's a great store for jumpsuits, boyfriend jeans, linen pants, maxi dresses, casual tops, and rompers.

While browsing the store we spotted 2 for $10 deals, $7.99 specials, basics starting at 3 for $10, and maxis prices as low as $10.

Party dresses were priced around $15. The store also carries an assortment of sportswear and business casual pieces, specifically blazers for $17!

The Best Place for Plus-Size Dresses

When Sweeties Plus opened in Santee Alley two years ago (featured here), the plus-size only store was a god-send. It was the only store that catered exclusively to curvier gals and plus-size wholesale buyers. Since then various stores have added plus-sizes to their inventory, but Sweeties is still near and dear to our heart for their commitment to trendy, figure-flattering styles. You won't find any frumpy, unflattering clothes here!

While plus-size has become more prevalent in the alley, Sweeties is still the best place for plus-size party and casual dresses, dressy tops, and blazers. They have the largest selection of plus-size dresses we've seen in the alley to date! The store carries plus-size up to 3X and offers mix-and-match options for wholesale and bulk buyers who meet the 12 piece minimum. Sneakers and Athletic Shoes Starting at only $12.99!

Petalos Shoes has reopened and transformed itself into a athletic and casual footwear store, filling a void for much needed quality sneakers in the alley. The former women's shoe store now carries sneakers and athletic footwear for the entire family, as well as sportswear and athletic gear for men and women. Sneakers start as low as $12.99 and brand name shoes, like the Converse high-tops are only $34.99. Weekly Fashion Finds: KAM'S Costume Jewelry and Womens Fashion

We originally began frequenting KAM'S for their unique jewelry collection. (We did a previous post on the store here.) Since their grand opening a year ago, KAM's has expanded into women's clothing, including a fabulous collection of multi-way wrap dresses and party outfits. Pricing is very competitive and most styles are available for wholesale and retail.

We found maxi skirts and dresses starting at $5.99 in the most unlikely place of all... a men's suit store. Elegante Clothing currently has skirts, dresses, and leggings at wholesale prices available to the public. They come in various colors and prints.

Weekly Fashion Finds: $20 Handbag Sale

Ice Handbags is making room for fall inventory and has ALL their handbags on sale for $20. That's right ladies, any purse for $20! Ice has two locations in the LA Fashion District, with two more coming soon. The Santee Alley location is at 315-B. Purchases can also be placed online via their Facebook and Instagram.

Ice Handbags are 100% vegan and can also be found at retailers like Nordstrom Rack and Marshall's. Ice, a manufacturer and importer, has been in the alley for over two years. They specifically decided to base their business in the Fashion District because they felt confident they could offer the kind of competitive pricing Santee Alley shoppers expect. At $20 a bag we think they're doing an excellent job.
